Borrowing Blockbusters: The Best Worst Alien Knock Offs of the 1990s and Beyond
Просмотров 140 тыс.Год назад
'Roger Corman's Revenge' would have been a shorter title. The second and final part of this deep dive into B-movies influenced by 'Alien'. I know 'Creatures of the Abyss' isn’t an Alien knock off, but it is a masterpiece and it has much in common. More importantly I didn't want to start with 'Alien Terminator' because it's rubbish. Coming soon: 'Aliens'. Aliens Expanded. Back the latest documen...

Just don't bother putting The Room on these lists any longer.
You can add Romulus for managing to borrow from every single Alien film.
Hey, I started watching "Blast" on cable once, but someone kept interrupting me so I missed about half the movie; doesn't look like I missed much. And Cynthia Rothrock just put out a new movie. Believe it or not. Also, Come on! Steven Seagal is a creep too? Is there anyone who isn't a creep?
Alligator, Tentacles & Humanoids are a few of favorites. Entertaining as hell.
I Cannot Stand Spaceballs
HI-LARIOUS!!
I've watched Ice Pirates. Once. From what I remember, it felt very incoherent. In my mind, the absolutely best part of the movie was the fight just before the end. The visual of them fighting while aging rapidly was just hilarious! I was laughing so hard.
Have you done a dinosaurploitation documentary yet ? There's lots of wonderful rubbish out there....and what a werewolf one too. Keep up the good work you are highly entertaining.
i disagree, Tremors is amazing and one of my all time favorite sequels ever!
Dolph Lundgren was the real deal.
um its Hy Pyke...
DUDE. You're a fucking gentleman and a scholar for including Jackie.
Noooo... Don't make Tobin Bell say "boogiephobia", it sounds like someone is afraid of going to the disco...
So you are telling me that Ronald Reagan is responsible for the action figure phenomena? OMG wow.
I just fell in love with this channel
25:44 There is a cave painting of a Squig from Warhammer Fantasy on the wall right after you said this is a real period of history. I had to laugh. (Yes I know its a bull)
The Lift, weirdly got a shout out in a recent episode of UK comedy panel show 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Especially as it’s a show about solving word and number puzzles! It’s the one with Jonathan Ross and Richard Ayoade.
Teacher murders 30 years old kids😅
13:26 Patrick's face says. "I was in the Avengers. Where did it all go wrong?"
I think I ate a ding whopper at Burger King.
THE BEST HOSTAGE IMAGINABLE
I remember years ago a movie set in a post apocalyptic world where people were using bows and arrows, the arrows were tipped with explosive. I remember one scene were a person was hit with one of these arrows and their head blew off of their shoulders. The movies name iirc was called The last Barbarian, I have been trying to find that movie for years with little success.
Why would he laminate their womens?
Dominick Brascia was a pedo
Haven't laughed quite so much for a long time. Thanks. The original Conan film bored me as it seemed lumberingly directed. I preferred Red Sonya. Its a shame you redacted the important bits.
I haven't watched this yet but wasn't there a US TV series with Bruce Boxleitner as an Indy Jones type character in the late 80's. If you mention it in this documentary then apologies from me.
This interesting video is near unwatchable by adverts that constantly interrupt mid-sentence.
I'm surprised at the disdain for Ellison. Outer Limits was a hugely influential TV show. I do think Cameron took things from it, and fairly central themes to that end. Ellison had every right to demand acknowledgement of his work. We'll never know how true it was that if he'd asked he'd have been given it for free (with credit) but that's not really on Ellison to justify.
I could tell it was the rough translation...
Phenomenal work. Thank you.
I remember the movie Creature 1985 being a bad rip-off attempt among many others
Bowfinger grabbed a few of these stories eh
42:43 great line. 🙌🏾💂🏾♀️
26:15 "His prized Ferrari" are we sure it's his? Nobody in the movie can touch it, even when they're supposed to be polishing it. Or maybe I've just seen too many influencers/crypto-bros pretending to own a borrowed flashy car.
My friends and I thought 9 deaths of the ninja was the fourth of the series never saw it as a trilogy. We saw 9 deaths in the theater around 10 years old
Wonderful job...well done!
It means japanese s'Word
“Heavy Metal Bollywood horror” is one hell of a genre
Superb stuff
2:09 The iron sheik??
I was a huge Indy fan growing up in the 80s, to the point I bought the hat and whip and made my parents enroll me in a junior archeologist program. Aside from Indiana Jones, I loved Crocodile Dundee, King Solomon's Mine and Allan Quartermane and the lost city of Gold. However there was a super low budget rip off called "The further adventures of Tennessee Buck" starring the guy from Arliss, (Kieth David?) That was pretty awful at the time and did not age well either.
Conan The Barbarian and The Destroyer are great movies... The 1987 Masters Of The Universe movie is awesome..."Good Journey"... DeathStalker 2 is another favorite...it has that Army Of Darkness vibe..."I'll have my revenge and Deathstalker 2"... the scene where the guy throws some coins into the magic pool to call Jarek is hilarious XD
Your videos are great. Keep up the good work. 👍
Well done.
So much Eric Roberts
Oh man I loved No.1 of the Secret Service growing up. I was always a fan of the Bond movies and it also scratched the itch. So many fun and absurd moments. Jon Pertwee (Doctor Who) as a porn mag reading priest, Fine with the bulletproof glass wall in his house, shooting a bullet out of the air. Just his 2 .357 Magnums as weapons. What's not for a teenage boy to love.
Our man flint awsome
17:00 Trudeau?
The most historically accurate depiction of ninja in popular media is the video game GHOST OF TSUSHIMA. Basically, ninja were samurai who had fallen on hard times and had to resort to assassination and general banditry to survive.
I'm honored you used my Joseph Lai picture (26:16) to illustrate him. Finally there's a "most exhaustive (bad) ninja movies video" on YT. Great and Hell of a cutting work, as usual. Robert Tai forever!
